Surrounded by Seas
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is lapped by the clear waters of three blue, inland seas: the Tyrrhenian to the north, the Ionian to the east and the Mediterranean to the south and west.
These seas have been crossed by waves of conquerors since antiquity and, curious travellers.
And, it is from the sheltered coastlines dotted with villages and cities, azure blue coves, pebbly beaches and stretches of sand that the traveller can look out over the eastern Mediterranean towards the Levant, Africa, the remoter Sicilians islands and the toe of mainland Italy.
