Sicilian blue... skies, tiles, doors and more.

Posted by Suzanne Turrisi on 31 Aug 2019

Blue, blue and more blue across Sicily:

Doors by the seaside painted a vibrant Mediterranean blue reflecting the closeness and depth of the sea; evening skies in a splendid cobalt; a blue sky, clear and crisp in the interior mountains of the Madonie;

'Full moon' blue in a mountain village; a white dome against a spring sky; golden stone framed by the bluest skies; festive lights in a dazzling blue adorning a church facade... the best blues.

Enjoy these images of  'Sicilian Blue' plus a few short travel notes from some of my Sicilian wanderings.

By the Tyrrhenian sea, Cefalu

Cathedral of Cefalu in its full Arab Norman splendour, against the bluest of skies.

The Mother Church, Polizzi Generosa, in the Madonie mountain light, striking against the clearest blue

Casa Cuseni, Taormina blue ...stay a while here when travelling Sicily

Classic blue majolica tiles in the Il Mercato delle Pulci tucked in behind Palermo's exotic Arab Norman Cathedral

The palest blue by the Ionain Sea, Ortigia. Linger a while here at Hotel Gutkowski along the Lungomare di Levante Elio Vittorini

Full moon blue, Polizzi Generosa up in the Madonie

Striking cobalt blue in the spring, along Corso Umberto, Taormina

The blue garage door, Casa Cuseni, Taormina

Dazzling blue, the feast of The Holy Crucifix, Polizzi Generosa

Exotic dome against a clear blue sky, from the garden of  Ristorante I Templari, Polizzi Generosa

Salve
