Ortigia: Scenes of a summer past

Posted by Suzanne on 27 Nov 2015

A  Summer captured in Ortigia

In the Sicilian summer, Ortigia, Siracusa, the most glorious town by the sea on Sicily's south east coast, is sun filled with baroque buildings of golden stone; memories of Greek heritage; quiet backstreets; and, cobalt blue evening skies lapped by the waters of the Ionian Sea.

Carefree summer tourists wander; cameras shoot; slow bicycles meander; young Sicilian boys play soccer in the backstreets under blue, blue skies and, the night time streets and waterfronts, washed by soft golden light, glow.

A few snapshots

The ten shots below capture a little of a summer past in this wonderful town by the Ionian sea. I plan to return in the summer of 2016.

Salve,

Suzanne
