Apricots, Indian figs and cherries

Sweet delicious apricots, crimson coloured Indian figs and lovely ‘cherry red’ cherries have made for some good memories. 

Yes, nice ones...two baskets full of local cherries from Polizzi Generosa. One, a gift spirited across the piazza by a neighbour to the back door of the house, back in June 2016. The other, brought by a local farmer and musican to be shared at a friend's dinner table in the historic centre of Polizzi.

Boxes of deep red cherries stacked at Polizzi's weekly market. And eating one of the sweetest apricots I think I have tasted. I came across this delicious apricot at a corner fruit store in the quiet Madonie mountain village of Isnello in June 2018. (I've written about Isnello and this lovely apricot before.)

And the expert peeling of a vibrant crimson prickly Indian fig, by one of Polizzi's roving street fruit vendors, in the month of September, 2016.

To return to Sicily

I think of when I will return to Sicily and I look forward to getting back there (when travel restrictions from Australia are lifted) to enjoy extended time in Polizzi and to travel days on end, across the island. And, to eat the fruits of the seasons.
