Hidden Sicilian Mountains

Posted by Suzanne Turrisi on 02 Mar 2018

Scenes from The Madonie: soaring mountains; bare cliff faces; lingering mist; open, green fields; grazing sheep; walking tracks; early evening light; rich autumn colours; sights of medieval ruins; mossy forests; ancient stone villages nestled in the mountains of  The Madonie (The Madonie National Park) and late December snow on the higher points.

These scenes of the Madonie Mountains were captured, in photo, by Serena Firera in the Sicilian autumn and early winter of 2017.

It is one of Sicily's hidden places filled with silence, natural beauty and lovely old stone villages.
